Setup guide · Read-only MCP connection
Connect Claude or ChatGPT to your ThirdNexa records.
A step-by-step guide to adding ThirdNexa as a connector in Claude or ChatGPT, signing in, and confirming the assistant can read only the vendor records you can already see.
The connection is read-only. Your assistant cannot edit records, record approvals, or judge whether a requirement is met — your firm records every decision.
Before you start
- A ThirdNexa account that belongs to at least one firm workspace.
- Claude or ChatGPT on a plan that allows custom MCP connectors, with permission in your workspace.
- The connection address below — it is the same for both assistants.
- Menu names differ between plans and change over time; look for “connector”, “app”, or “MCP”.
Step 1
Copy the connection address.
This is the address you enter in Claude or ChatGPT when adding a custom MCP connector. Nothing is shared until you sign in and approve.
If you use more than one domain for ThirdNexa, use the address for the domain where your firm's workspace lives.
https://thirdnexa.com/mcpStep 2: add the connector in your assistant
- 1
Open Claude and go to Settings, then Connectors. On Team and Enterprise plans, your workspace owner may control who can add connectors.
- 2
Choose the option to add a custom connector (some plans show it as “Add custom connector” in the connector directory).
- 3
Name the connector ThirdNexa and enter the connection address above. Save.
- 4
Claude opens a ThirdNexa sign-in window. Sign in with the account you use for ThirdNexa, then choose Approve on the ThirdNexa page.
- 5
Return to Claude, start a chat, and turn the ThirdNexa connector on for that chat if it isn't already on.
- 6
Ask a question in plain language, for example: “Which vendor reviews are overdue or due in the next 30 days?”
Step 3
Sign in and approve.
Your assistant sends you to ThirdNexa to sign in. Use the account you use for your firm's workspace. The approval page says exactly what the assistant will be able to read. Choose Approve, then return to your assistant.
The assistant sees only the firms that account belongs to, with the same permissions that account has in ThirdNexa. If you belong to several firms, the answer covers those firms.
What the assistant can read
Search vendors
Find vendors by name and narrow the list by risk tier or status.
Vendor risk profile
One vendor's risk information, review dates, whether it is recorded as Reg S-P relevant, and how many findings are open.
Upcoming reviews
Vendors whose next review is overdue or due within a number of days you set.
Open findings
Unresolved findings, for all vendors or one vendor, filtered by severity.
Reg S-P contract clause status
For each contract, the recorded status of the three checklist clauses, whether the notice clause was verified and where, the gaps, and open findings for remediation.
What it cannot do
Change a record: vendors, contracts, reviews, findings, documents and settings are all read-only over this connection.
Record an approval, decision or compliance conclusion. Your firm makes and records every decision.
See firms you don't belong to. Access follows the same firm membership, role and permission rules as the app.
Reach records outside your workspace: no other firm's data is exposed to your assistant.
Step 4
Confirm it worked.
Three checks confirm the connection is reading the right records and that every question is on the record.
ThirdNexa also has an in-app AI assistant check (Account menu) that runs the same sign-in, access and activity-log checks without an assistant. It adds one entry to the firm's activity log each time it runs.
- 1
Ask a question about a vendor you know is in your records and check the answer against the app.
- 2
Open that firm's activity log in ThirdNexa. Each assistant question is recorded there, named after the tool used, with your name.
- 3
Ask the same question from an account that belongs to a different firm and confirm it can't see your records.
If something doesn't line up.
Most issues are a sign-in that didn't finish, an address typed by hand, or a plan that doesn't allow custom connectors.
The sign-in didn't finish
Sign in to ThirdNexa in the same browser first, then start the connector's authenticate step again. If it still loops, remove the connector and add it again using the exact address above.
The connector shows no tools
Check that the connection address is exactly https://thirdnexa.com/mcp, then reconnect. Assistant plans and workspace settings control whether custom MCP connectors are available.
It answers that nothing was found
You may have signed in with a different account, belong to a firm with no vendors yet, or asked for something not recorded in your workspace. Ask again about a vendor you know is in your records.
Approve says access denied
Your account isn't a member of the firm you expected. Ask a firm admin to invite you, then reconnect.
Your assistant reads your records. Your firm still owns every decision.
Every question your assistant asks is recorded in the relevant firm's activity log with your name. Answers come from what your firm recorded in ThirdNexa; recorded statuses are not compliance determinations or legal advice. Information returned to Claude or ChatGPT is subject to that provider's data policies and your workspace settings — review those before connecting.
